AAA - Information

AAA Softball Information - Smitty’s Terminators & Manitoba Angels

What is “AAA” Softball?
AAA softball is the highest level of competitive fastpitch in Manitoba. It is designed for athletes who are fully committed to training, development, and competition at an elite level. AAA players compete against the strongest teams in the province and often go on to represent Manitoba or pursue post-secondary playing opportunities.

Which AAA Team Will You Play For?
AAA players are split into two catchments based on where they live:

  • East of Charleswood Road: Players try out for and play on the Smitty’s Terminators (WSWYSA)

  • West of Charleswood Road: Players try out for and play on the Manitoba Angels (Northwest Fastball)

Both programs follow the same elite development structure and competitive pathway.

The Smitty’s Terminators & Manitoba Angels Programs
The Smitty’s Terminators and Manitoba Angels are Manitoba’s premier AAA softball programs. Each year, teams are formed in multiple age divisions (U13, U15, U17, U19) depending on interest and athlete selection.

Players in both programs receive advanced coaching, compete at the top levels of provincial play, and are prepared for higher-level opportunities, including Team Manitoba and post-secondary competition.

How AAA is Run

Tryouts:

  • Athletes must attend tryouts each season to be considered for a roster.

  • Tryouts are typically held in early September.

Commitment Level:

  • AAA requires the highest level of commitment within the Softball Manitoba pathway.

  • Players can expect multiple weekly practices, strength & conditioning sessions, and extensive travel for tournaments.

  • Families should be prepared for a greater time and financial commitment than A or AA softball.

Season Format:

  • Teams compete in exhibition games, tournaments within Manitoba, and often travel outside the province for additional competition.

  • The season culminates with AAA Provincials, with the opportunity to advance to Canadian Nationals.

Coaching & Development:

  • Led by experienced coaches, many with provincial, national, or collegiate backgrounds.

  • Strong focus on high-level skill development, strategy, and preparing athletes for the next stage of competition.

Player Pathway:

  • Many AAA athletes have gone on to represent Team Manitoba at Canada Summer Games or Nationals.

  • Numerous alumni continue to play softball at the college and university level, both in Canada and the U.S.

Why Play AAA?

  • Compete at the highest level in Manitoba and beyond.

  • Access to elite coaching and training resources.

  • Opportunities to attend national competitions and gain exposure for post-secondary recruitment.

  • Be part of a program with a strong tradition of excellence in Manitoba softball.
